Today was spent at the Annual Duck Race in the American Tobacco District located in the heart of Durham, North Carolina. We've had our duck to race since this summer, so we have been looking forward to this day for a long time. And, it was well worth it - a truly fun, family event!!
As you will see, Mariel loved all the animals walking around.

Mariel met one of the rats in the Nutcracker Ballet that will be performing at the Durham Performing Arts Center.
These are some of the entries for the "Duck Decorating Contest." All the ducks were very creative - from witches to nurses. Matthew painted the Duke/UNC duck; although we did not win, he did get compliments!! I was very impressed with his painting talent.
Mariel crawled to her daddy but did not touch the end of the mat until she had visited all the babies in the center of the mat. She was definitely the Little Miss Social Butterfly. I think she was routing the other babies on; it was quite adorable!
And now for the "Duck Race."
All the ducks are loaded on the back of a John Deere Gator and sent down this little stream in the middle of the American Tobacco District.
I have circled our duck (The Duke/UNC Duckie) for you to see his progress.
Looks like so much fun! I can't believe how big she is getting.
